MusicDish is proud to announce that Taiwan-fronted prog-rock band The Hsu-nami have been invited to perform at the upcoming IES 2013 (Indie Entertainment Summit) being held in Hollywood, California this August. As part of IES 2003, The Hsu-nami will be performing at Hollywood's Ivar Theatre (1605 Ivar Ave) on Saturday, August 10. Led by Jack "the ErhuMan" Hsu, The Hsu-nami is a NY-based Asian-infused progressive rock band that blends the hauntingly versatile er-hu, a two-stringed chinese violin, with American rock engineering.

MusicDish Founder Eric de Fontenay first heard the band in 2009 at Taiwan Passport and has been following them ever since. "The Hsu-nami is one of the most original bands out there merging Eastern and Western music influences... and they pack one hell of a show! I mean, who knew that one could shred a er-hu? It's a pleasure to be presenting this fusion of New York & Taiwan to the Indie Entertainment Summit." Since 2011, MusicDish has played a central role in the annual 'Taiwan Night' concerts held at CMJ and in Paris, featuring top Taiwanese acts such as Jolin Tsai and Mayday.

Jay Warsinske, Founder & President of IES stated "Building bridges is what IES is all about; between creators & technologies, between forms of entertainment (music, movies, TV), between genres & especially between geographic markets. Having The Hsu-nami, with their exceptional Taiwanese leader Jack Hsu, is a beginning of more & more collaborations between Asia & Hollywood at IES. We welcome The Hsu-nami & many more Asian artists & companies!"

The Hsu-nami have gained international renown by leaving their home turf of New York City to play all over the world to crowds of up to 10,000 people. They have lit up stages from China and Taiwan and back to Canada and the United States by amplifying the er-hu, a traditionally ancient classical music instrument, and integrating it into a modern rock lineup. The band composes intriguing and complex melody based instrumental songs featuring stark dynamic contrast and heavy guitar riffs, nuanced bass lines, and erratic solos that trade between er-hu and guitar. The Hsu-nami define the New World Order of globalization by combining cultures and genres that makes a sound that is genuinely their own.

The global appeal of The Hsu-nami has garnered many accolades. Their song Rising of the Sun was the entrance theme for the Chinese basketball team during the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics. The Hsu-nami has been building their brand since 2005 by gaining a reputation for explosive live shows and exceptional musicianship. They have two independent releases under their belts, Entering the Mandala (2007) and The Four Noble Truths (2009). They are currently in the studio writing their third album, which will be an expansion of their cultural barrier and genre destroying sound. Follow The Hsu-nami as they continue to tour the world.
